ZnS is one of the most important semiconductor that is applied in optical and electrical devices. Also this material has the important roles at the photocatalytic degradation of some dyes such as methyl orange(MO), rhodamine B(RB), X-3B. In this work, ZnS nanocrystals were synthesized by hydrothermal procedure at 160 ºC and during 12 h. Thiosemicarbazide and zinc acetate-dihydrate with certain ratio were used as starting materials. Also, ethylendiamine Tetra Acetic acid (EDTA) was added to reaction mixture as capping agent. The nanocrystals were characterized via scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron microscopy (TEM), FT-IR, X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-Vis. SEM images revealed that prepared sample includes crystalline particles in nanoscale with average size of 77 nm. TEM images indicated crystalline nature with the threegonal, tetragonal and hexagonal structures. The XRD pattern confirmed crystalline phase of cubic for synthesized ZnS. Meanwhile, the photo catalytic activity of the obtained product was investigated by degradation of methyl orange dye under UV irradiation. |
