In this study, Strontium bioactive bioglasse has been synthesized by Sol-gel method and used as additive for HA bioceramics. Different amounts of Strontium containing bioactive glasses (1,3,5,10 wt%) were added to HA and sintered at different temperatures. XRD, SEM and mechanical methods were employed for phase analysis, microstructure observations and bending strength measurements, respectively. The effect of bioglass concentration as well as sintering temperature on mechanical properties structural features of HA was investigated. β-TCP, α-TCP and calcium phosphate silicate were also found in the composition of HA sintered with 10% bioglass. Bending strength was improved by adding 1-5% bioglass to HA whereas a decrease in mechanical properties was observed by adding 10% bioglass. |
