Calcium Titanate (CaTiO3) is a biocompatible ceramic with high mechanical properties and Fluorapatite (FA) is a bioactive ceramic with good biocompatibility. Fabrication a composite is an approved method to obtained desired and optimum properties. The aim of the present study was fabrication of a novel composite nano powder via sol – gel method. Based on mentioned purpose, a combination of Calcium Titanate and Fluorapatite in powder form was prepared and characterized. FA nano powders were prepared successfully by mechanical alloying process. In order to CaTiO3/FA nano powders fabrication, a suspension of FA nano powders was added to prepared sol of CaTiO3, carefully. In this method, the sequence of adding ingredients, temperature of gelation, time and temperature of drying and annealing, and stirring velocity were carefully designed and performed. XRD and SEM analyses techniques were utilized to characterize the prepared nano powders. ICP and FTIR techniques were also used to assess the bioactivity behavior of nano powders in simulated body fluid. The results indicated that novel composite nano powders compose of CaTiO3/FA obtained successfully with desired phase and microstructure. Bioactivity assessment showed the improved bioactivity of composite nano powders relative to pure Calcium Titanate. |
