Abstract: |
Vanadium doped titania coatings were applied on the surface of soda-lime glass by dopping them inside a sol containing titanium(IV) isopropoxide and vanadyl acetylacetonate and heating at 450 ºC for 0.5h. The prepared V-doped titania were characterized by X-ray difractometer and UV-vis spectrophotometer. The XRD results showed that the coatings only include anatase phase after calcination at 450 ºC. The "red shift" was observed in the UV-Vis spectra of the V:TiO2 coatings compared with that of pure TiO2 coating. The absorption edge and band gap energy of the coatings with different amounts of vanadium were determined. It was found that the optical band gap decreased with increasing the vanadium content. |
