Abstract: |
In this study antibacterial silver/PLA/PEG nano-composites were synthesized via chemical reduction method by dissolving various percentages of AgNO3 in aqueous phase that was dispersed in organic phase using sodium borohydride as a reducing agent. PEG was added to improve flexibility of high molecular weight poly (lactic acid) films. Presence of synthesized nano-particles of Ag in polymeric matrix was demonstrated by UV-visible and XRD experiments. Both PLA as the polymeric matrix of the nano-composites and PEG are biodegradable and biocompatible polymers and Ag/PLA/PEG nano-composite films could be used in food packaging applications to improve food quality. |
