Abstract: |
In this research two kinds of nanosized titania and magnesia sols were prepared and were vacuum impregnated in magnesia-chrome bricks and the samples were heat treated at 1000 oC subsequently. The penetration and corrosion resistance to copper and convertor slag of impregnated and un-impregnated magnesia–chromite brick samples were tested using static finger tests at 1600 ◦C for 3 hours. SEM micrographs, elemental line scans and X-ray mappings results shows a different microstructure of the impregnated sample as compared to the un-impregnated one. The influence of vacuum impregnation on copper slag corrosion resistance of magnesia-chrome refractories has also been evaluated. The results show that both sols could improve the magnesia-chrome bricks corrosion resistance in impregnation. |
